Carrick Craft
Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim
A boating holiday on the River Shannon is one of the best ways to see the idyllic Irish countryside at a relaxed pace. A variety of boats cater for large and small groups, maximum ten people. No experience necessary as full instruction will be given.

The Shannon River flows from Lough Allen in the north to Killaloe in the South and offers unrivaled scenery and peace.

There are hundreds of miles of rivers and lakes to explore, and lots of places to tie up in the evening. You can choose between being in a small village or a town with pubs and restaurants, or cook on board in the fully equipped galley.

All boats have bathrooms with toilet and shower and many of the larger boats are en suite. Starting from Carrick On Shannon you can go north to visit Lough Key and Boyle or head into the Shannon Erne Waterway towards Lough Erne. Alternatively, you can head south and go through the Jamestown Canal and on to Dromod or you can detour into the Kilglass Lakes which are remote, even by our standards.

The boats are priced from the three day minimum and you can start on any day except Sunday. You can stay for as long as you like. There is the option of doing a one way hire, setting off to one of our other marinas at Banagher in County Offaly or Bellanaleck in County Fermanagh.

There are a variety of boats ranging from boats for two people up to boats for ten people, with different styles for different groups, an example is for two couples travelling together may choose a Kilkenny Class cruiser as it has two separate double cabins. However a young family may choose a Wexford Class cruiser which has a master cabin forward and two single bed cabins.

Many of the boats have steering outside as well as inside so on those lovely sunny days you can all be up on deck. Bedding and towels are supplied, but you will have to pay for any fuel used during your holiday.

Don’t worry if you have never been on a boat before as full instruction will be given, both online before you arrive and then on the boat itself. Navigation is very simple with a system of coloured markers to guide you along the river and lakes. Harbours and jetties are well designed and with the aid of the Navigation Guide you can see where it is best to tie up.
