Carrig Country House is centrally located for touring the Ring of Kerry, Killarney National Park. and Dingle Peninsula, as well as the world heritage site of Skellig Michael (recently used as a location for scenes in a Star Wars film). Carrig is an ideal base for hill walking, mountain climbing, horse riding, fishing, windsurfing, and sailing. There are 15 golf courses in the area, the nearest being a 10-minute drive away.
At the heart of the Carrig Country House experience is genuine old fashioned Irish hospitality provided by Frank, Mary and their professional team.The beautifully-appointed bedrooms, drawing rooms, and the Lakeside Restaurant overlook Caragh Lake with a view of the majestic Kerry mountains. All bedrooms are ensuite and most have either King Size beds or Twin beds (2 single beds). Some rooms are available with three single beds. They are decorated in period style and feature antique furnishings.
Carrig boasts one of the better restaurants in Kerry, which uses the best of local farm and garden produce plus an abundance of fresh fish from the nearby Atlantic. It has been awarded two Rosettes for Culinary Excellence by the AA. The lakeside Restaurant is open to non-residents.
The four acre gardens contain a magnificent selection of rare and unusual plants from all corners of the world, including various species of Acer, Magnolia, Cornus, Acacia and Eucryphia.
