Kilcooly's Country House Hotel celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2014. It has another 100 plus years of history prior to this. Over that time it went through various incarnations and absorbed many memories, if only those walls could talk. These self same walls are clad in gnarly old Virginia creeper, but go inside and it's all luxury and comfort. There are 17 spacious bedrooms, each with its unique character. You'll be welcomed like one of the family and feted like the prodigal son. There is an abundance of flowers in both number and variety in the private garden and there is also guest car parking.
There are always friends and family gathering, as has been done for generations. One of the most successful conferences on the annual calendar, Women In Media, is hosted in Kilcooly's in April. It is a truly unique event. The most successful in media and politics have already turned the weekend into an annual pilgrimage.
Kilcooly’s Country House Hotel hosts the annual Ballybunion half marathon charity fundraiser every Easter. Runners and walkers come to participate in the event and maybe more importantly, the after event party.
Later in the year, early October, Kilcooly's bring back the warmth and bonhomie that two Ballybunion characters were famous for. Jack Lyons was a champion concertina player and his friend Jimmy Fitzgerald a champion fiddle player. They're remembered and celebrated with gusto by novices, all Ireland Champions and everything in between.
Every weekend the feet are tapping in Kilcooly’s. Friday night is a delightful unplugged acoustic session where all ages come together to give their unique renditions of Bob Dylan, Christy Moore, the Eagles, Elvis and Nirvana. Saturday night is just something else. Champion traditional Irish Musicians of all ages come from far and wide to share their love of the music. There's storytelling one could never have explained to those not present. The following morning one can adjourn to the calm and tranquil surroundings of our sister property, Anne's Vintage Tea Rooms. Whether your desire is Black, Green, White, Oolong Tea or coffee, there is something for every palate. The fresh baking each morning is too tempting not to eat. One can take away any or all of the following, China teacup and saucer set, a handmade candle inside one of these China cups, a gorgeous basket with a China Cup Candle, saucer, side plate and individual packet of tea, a luxurious Earl Grey with Blue flowers or for something with a twist, Chocolate Tea.
