Rosturk Woods offers two spacious, self-catering houses which can be rented together when there is a large group, or separately for smaller gatherings. They are privately located in secluded woodland with direct access to the clean sandy, tidal seashore of Clew Bay providing wonderful beach walks when the tide is out. Ideal water conditions for kayaking, windsurfing or sailing when the tide is in.
The ‘West Wing’ is a spacious three bedroomed house with stunning south facing views over Clew Bay inlet which can be enjoyed from the balcony off the master bedroom or from the terrace downstairs. The self-catering accommodation is in the private wing of the main house, with its own separate access, private parking and a path through the woodland down to the sandy shoreline. The house is well equipped with plenty of books to enjoy. The bedrooms are furnished with large beds and bathrooms with power showers.
The ‘Waterfall House’ is a large, six bedroomed house which is suitable for both large and smaller groups of family and friends. It is ideal for both friends seeking a peaceful, restorative living space or for a larger gathering wanting plenty of activities and shared socialising on the large terrace.
There are two spacious downstairs bedrooms with ensuite facilities which are ideal for anyone preferring ground floor access. There are open fireplaces for the evenings as well as outside dining on the south facing terrace on a sunny evening. The terrace is also ideal for younger children to play in.
While the houses are privately located, they share the use of a hard surface tennis court and a games room with a pool table. Both houses have facilities for drying wet gear.
As well as plenty of on site activities, there is easy access to the spectacular Western Greenway cycle path which runs between Westport and Achill Island and is a great way to enjoy this part of the world by either walking or cycling. The Greenway is located on the old railway route and is off the main road with wonderful views of the coast.
There are boat trips on the Bay available from Newport, a selection of golf courses within easy driving distance and surfing conditions at Keel Beach on Achill Island. There are a variety of walks to suit different types of walkers, all with wonderful views and different challenges.
There is a wide variety of places to eat out with local music being played in both Newport and Westport. For guests who prefer to eat in, there are many food shopping options, local shellfish, fish and locally sourced meat. There is also a family run pub two minutes’ drive away for guests who want to have a night out close by.
