Killorglin is arguably one of the best locations to stay by the Ring of Kerry, within 15 miles of Killarney and very near the rugged coast of the Iveragh Peninsula which makes up much of the Ring. Killorglin is physically located on the route, and is home to the famous Puck Fair, one of Ireland’s oldest traditional fairs, dating back to the late 1500s. The town maintains a vibrant atmosphere all year, with plenty of local restaurants, pubs and late pubs/clubs. There are also nearby golf clubs and the River Laune located opposite the Bianconi, is famous for its freshwater fishing.
Killorglin is centrally located for the golf clubs of Killorglin, Dooks Links and various courses in Killarney, including Killeen, Lackabane and Mahonys Point. Closer to home is Beaufort and Gap of Dunloe Golf & Driving Range. A visit to Ballybunion, Tralee or Waterville for golf is also possible within a 45 minute drive.
The Bianconi Inn is ideally located next to the River Laune, famed for its salmon and trout fishing. There are also other fishing locations nearby, such as the River Caragh. Salt water fishing is popular in Glenbeigh, Caragh Lake, Glencar and Cromane. The Killarney Lakes are within a 25 minute drive from Killorglin. With suitable prior notice, The Bianconi Inn can arrange tours of the Lakes of Killarney.
Within easy reach of Killorglin is the picturesque village of Glenbeigh and nearby Rossbeigh Strand, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in Ireland. Dooks and Cromane also offer excellent beach walks. Glencar, mountains, rivers and lakes are only a 10 minutes drive. Within 30 minutes drive you can reach Killarney and avail of jaunt (horse and carriage) rides around Killarney National Park. The Aqualla Club at Gleneagles, Killarney is a popular family attraction.
