Previous winners of the ‘Best Beach Holiday Home in Europe’ award, The Cottages Ireland are six 300 year old thatched seaside cottages nestled in a hamlet like setting on Bettystown Beach. These self-catering homes are ideally located for a vacation whether a couple, a family, a golfer, a heritage hound or simply relaxing.
Located between the seaside villages of Bettystown and Laytown, County Meath, these six, whitewashed cottages are set within picturesque organic flower gardens that run down to a sandy beach and form part of the well-known Boyne Valley Garden Trail.
Having been lovingly renovated to provide an exceptionally high standard of self-catering accommodation with either stunning sea views or picturesque garden outlooks these cottages delight all that stay. The individual style and design varies but characteristically they have vaulted oak beamed ceilings, solid oak flooring with oriental rugs, feature fireplaces and are comfortably and stylishly furnished throughout. Full gas-fired central heating and double-glazing provide warmth and comfort all year round.
Each cottage includes a fully fitted kitchen and lounge including TV, video, DVD, Internet, well-stocked bookshelves and games, so visitors have plenty to entertain themselves on quiet days. Parking is included and there are two electric vehicle charging points onsite for guest use.
Close by guests will find a whole host of amenities including traditional Irish pubs, restaurants, hotels, shops, and supermarkets all within walking distance. The Cottages are a haven of peace and tranquillity right in the heart of the Boyne Valley where guest can discover the hidden treasures of Ireland’s Ancient East including the UNESCO World Heritage site of Newgange.
Within an hour’s drive are many championship golf courses, including Baltray, the venue for many Irish Opens, the K-Club, host to the Ryder Cup and Killeen Castle host to the Solheim Cup. Apart from golf and heritage, other activities include equestrian, fishing, walking, theme parks and much more.
Foodies can rejoice too as the Boyne Valley is an award winning Foodie Destination and haven with the ‘Boyne Valley Flavours’ hosting a range of foodie events all year round. This heavenly produce is served from farm to plate in the local restaurants too.
