The Nissen Hut is the epitome of seaside chic and has been featured in interior design magazines for its carefully curated interiors. The airy open plan space includes a double sided wood burning stove and a fully equipped kitchen. A vintage art deco chemist door takes you through to a Balinese style bathroom with rain shower and access to the beach and a double bedroom furnished with pieces from Pakistan.
The beginning of the cliff walk to Dunmore East is nearby. It takes approximately 45 minutes to walk to Dunmore via the cliff path which is one of the Copper Coast highlights, with seasonal whale and dolphin watching.
The Nissen Hut, built in 1958, is a half cylindrical corrugated steel structure, designed by engineer Peter Norman Nissen, originally intended for military use as a barracks. The lofty open plan layout and oversized French doors maximize the dramatic views of the sea from the living room, allowing you to feel like you are actually on the beach. On sunny calm days, it is perfect to relax and dine al fresco on the patio while on wild, stormy days you can curl up inside by the wood burning stove and experience the waves and rain smashing outside.
There is off road parking directly outside the hut and a car is advisable to explore the area. Although the hut is secluded there is super fast fibre broadband and an office nook if you need to work from home. Pets are most welcome.
