Glenn Lucas is one of the most established woodturners in Ireland today. Specialising in wood turned products, he balances his bowl production with an extensive teaching programme run from his County Carlow Woodturning Study Centre in Bagnelstown.

Glenn Lucas is a skilled Irish craftsman, an experienced and well respected teacher and demonstrator who specialises in wood turning. Available to purchase from his Woodturning Study Centre, his classic bowls turned by hand from Irish native wood, can also be found in outlets all over the world. A frequent guest demonstrator at overseas conferences, he also gives Turning Masterclasses at international arts and crafts schools.

Creating pieces from native Irish hardwood sourced locally, each piece is dried slowly in a kiln to ensure that it is suitable for use in the home. As well as creating his own wood turned products, Glenn also teaches classes for all levels and interests, with group and private classes available.

All wood is supplied as well as the tools needed. Basic skills are given attention to in the structure of each course. Hints and tips are given on tool selection and sharpening, use of basic woodturning tools, cutting and shear cutting techniques and use of scrapers. Spindle techniques, face plate techniques, getting the best finish, getting the most out of your material and advice on drying and wood selection are also included as part of the classes.

Glenn has also produced DVDs on 'Mastering Woodturning – Tools and Techniques’ and ‘Mastering Woodturning – Bowl Turning Techniques’.
