Coarse Angling Cootehill
Cootehill, Co. Cavan
Cloudy days
Cootehill, County Cavan is surrounded by lakes. Anaghmakerig and Drumgole Lakes to the north of the town are good waters holding for quality bream, perch and pike.

There are some 26 lakes within 10 miles of the Cootehill with some of these near the neighbouring town of Shercock and in adjoining Co. Monaghan.

The Anaghmakerig Lake is set in a forest with good accessibility and has some suitable platforms for disabled anglers. There is a good stock of quality roach and rudd in the Drum Lake. Drumshell Lake is 3 miles from Cootehill and provides roach, rudd and bream.

Heading towards the small town of Shercock to the south east of Cootehill lies Derrygooney Lake with its big stock of roach, perch and small pike. Shercock itself is on the east side of the Lough Sillan which has excellent clean bank fishing all year round.
