Eddie Doherty, a well known handweaver specialising in crafted Donegal handwoven tweed products, is based in Ardara, County Donegal.

Eddie produces a wide range of traditional handcrafted products including rugs, throws, scarves, capes, shawls, caps, hats, waistcoats, and cushions. All of these products are produced from 100% Irish wool and are handwoven in Eddie’s workshops in Ardara.

One man and his warp - Eddie Doherty learnt to weave by hand at the age of 16. Now, 40 years and two long stints with large Irish fabric companies later, he uses Donegal wool to handweave pure wool blankets and tweed at his home in Ardara. After running a family pub for several years, Eddie Doherty returned back to his first profession, weaving in 1992. He now makes handsome blankets, rugs, capes, scarves, waistcoats, caps, hats and slippers some in the traditional herringbone pattern, and others in large, wonderfully hued check designs.

Eddie takes orders from all around the world. He also weaves lengths of tweed to order.
