Memorial at INUVA Post 19 Letterkenny County Donegal

The memorials in Bernard McGlinchey Park and Conwal Cemetery are cared and looked after by members of IUNVA Post 19 based in Letterkenny, County Donegal.

The Memorial in The Bernard Mc Glinchey Park was the first to open. It has been renovated with the help of David and his staff from the park.

The park is open to visitors all year round.

The Memorial in Conwal Cemetery which is situated about 1.5 Kilometres from Letterkenny is the newest of the two. The annual wreath laying ceremony is held each year to commemorate our fallen comrades from the Irish Defence Forces, members of An Garda Siochaná, and civilians that have been killed in the service of peace whilst with the United Nations in various countries. Some of the countries that have been served by the members include, the Congo, Cyprus, Lebanon, Middle East, Somalia, Sarajevo, East Timor, Liberia and Bosnia to name a few.

A seat was erected to commemorate Private James Duffy who was awarded the Victoria Cross for most conspicuous bravery after he saved the lives of two of his comrades in Palestine, in December 1917.

Both Memorials are worth visiting while in the area.
