The four painters represented in the Green Door Studio, in Portnablagh, County Donegal, are related in family but they differ widely in their personal response to the raw materials that prompts their work.
Kate studied in Belfast College of Art and St Martin's College in London. Head of Art department St Cecilia's College, Derry 1991 to 1996. Now a full time painter, she has developed a personal style of palette knife work to interpret the north west capturing the essence of an idyllic moment, in bold uncluttered images.
Kevin, (BA Honours in Fine Art) is a full time painter since 1990 and explores mood, time, action, space and textural qualities. They are focused studies of the coast of Donegal and resonate with the personal space of the viewer.
Adrienne, with a BA honours in fine/applied arts from the University of Ulster, is primarily a painter. She studied illustration in Urbino, Italy, and has won acclaim and commissions for her work. Her works are intuitive and spiritual evocations of the dramatic moods of the Donegal coast. In 2002 she was awarded the UTV Young Artist Of The Year award.
The Green Door also represents the wonderful work of Gary Bonner.
Open full time during the busy summer months and weekends the rest of the year.
