John’s Lane Church
Dublin City, Co. Dublin
The historic John’s Lane Church tells an extraordinary story. The church is a treasure trove of history, arts and crafts, and is considered to be architecturally one of the finest churches in Dublin City.

Built in the mid 19th century, John’s Lane Church has a much older history. Beneath the church lie the remains of a 13th century hospital, the first in Ireland, run by Augustinian friars for the poor of Dublin

The granite and sandstone façade with its towering spire was once the highest in Dublin City and is surrounded by statues of the twelve apostles sculpted by James Pearse. Inside, the beautifully vast interior contains works of art and stained glass windows by artists such as Michael Healy, Harry Clarke studios, Edmund Sharpe and Mayer of Munich, not to mention a wonderful Victorian pipe organ.

A visit to John’s Lane Church is a feast for the senses.
