SHARD: An Irish Folk Horror
Dublin City, Co. Dublin
19 May 2026
Dive into eerie Irish tales and spine-chilling folklore with Stewart Roche’s acclaimed play Shard at The James Joyce Centre.

The James Joyce Centre is proud to present Stewart Roche’s acclaimed play SHARD starring Neill Fleming on Tuesday, 19 May at 6pm & 8pm.

You wouldn’t think it to look at him now but Spooner was once quite the whizz in finance. Good in presentations, great at crunching numbers, a real company man. But the veneer of success hides a desire for something different in life. So when offered the opportunity to join a community by the charismatic Kemp, he jumps at the chance. However, Spooner discovers more than he bargained for in his new surroundings, making him realise that some places on earth are not meant to be occupied. And in some places, nature has a will all of its own. . .
