Experience the wonder of the Book of Kells like never before at the Book of Kells Experience at Trinity College Dublin.

Trinity College Dublin is Ireland’s oldest university and home to its greatest cultural treasure, the Book of Kells. A precious 9th century manuscript containing the four Gospels of the New Testament, the Book is on display as part of the Book of Kells Experience. Located in the Old Library, visitors first view the Book before marvelling at the Long Room, considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful libraries.

Also on display is Gaia, Luke Jerram’s awe inspiring illuminated artwork. Gaia features detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface, showcasing the planet floating in three dimensions as it might be viewed from space.

Continue your journey into a digital exhibition in the Pavilion next to the Old Library, where you will be enchanted as stories, animations and sculptures come to life before your eyes. Interact with spirited sculptures including Ada Lovelace, Jonathan Swift and Rosalind Franklin, and then venture on an extraordinary immersive voyage in the Book of Kells 360, a spectacular journey in light and sound of the ancient masterpiece’s history.

Finally, step into a reimagined Long Room and see both the past and future of the Library and its precious collections through breath taking setworks and projections.

After the Book of Kells Experience, make the most of your visit to the historic campus with a Trinity Trails guided walking tour, led by their student and alumni tour guides. Departing from the Bell Tower, enjoy a 45 minute trail, exploring and discovering Trinity’s hidden gems.
