The Oval Bar
Dublin City, Co. Dublin
The Oval Bar is an Irish pub situated on Middle Abbey Street in the heart of Dublin City. It was established in 1820 and its history is linked with the history of the city of Dublin.

The Oval Bar is a landmark traditional Dublin pub and enjoys an enviable city centre location.

Indeed this very location forms part of The Oval Bar's rich history. During the period of the 1916 Rising in Dublin, its close proximity to the General Post Office, to the Irish Independent Newspapers Offices and to other key stronghold buildings around the then Sackville Street now O’ Connell Street, led to its interior being completely destroyed. This was lovingly restored in 1917. Fortunately, its original Victorian façade managed to somehow escape intact. The original Victorian exterior period features include the large lunette oval window and bay windows.

The Oval Bar is a place to escape from the hectic hustle and bustle of Dublin City centre. Busy shoppers can recharge their batteries with a meal and a drink at The Oval, or visitors can drop in before or after going to the theatre, concert or a show. A full menu is served every day, with traditional Irish stew being a speciality and an all day breakfast being another popular choice. They also have live music every Saturday night from 9pm to 11pm.

There are three floors of seating and a large function area with its own private bar facilities which is available to hire. The Oval Bar can accommodate groups of up to 50 people.

The Oval Bar is also a place to watch a variety of live sporting events.

It has free WIFI, a city centre location with a LUAS and Dublin Bus stop at its doorstep.
