The award-winning Athenry Arts and Heritage Centre is set in the medieval walled town of Athenry, County Galway, providing a unique visitor experience. The heritage town is located close to the M6 motorway and is on the Dublin-Galway intercity train route.

Visit the Athenry Arts and Heritage Centre in the medieval walled town of Athenry, County Galway, and experience a fun-filled day for all the family.

Set against a picturesque backdrop of the 13th-century medieval church ruins, the centre is an ideal focal point for the town's many historical features.

Learn about life in Norman Ireland by dressing up in medieval costumes, watch weaponry demonstrations, or visit the medieval market square and dungeon. An informative audio-visual presentation and storyboards tell of Athenry's unique history, while the centre also houses the town's original mace and seal from 1320.

The adjacent walled garden is home to a maze, herb garden, scenic picnic area, and an archery area, where, with the supervision of trained instructors, visitors can sharpen their archery skills.

Architectural walking tour maps are also available for visitors wishing to explore the heritage town.
