Celtic Tales, takes place in the candlelit top floor of The Crane Bar, a well known traditional music pub on the Sea Road in Galway City. Local and international story lovers gather here every Thursday to hear storyteller Rab Fulton re-tell the wonder, comedy, horror and magic of the myths, folk tales and urban legends of Ireland and Scotland.
Many of Celtic Tales' stories recount journeys of discovery, whether to the magical and perilous cities beneath the waves of Galway Bay, or back in time to a pub, prison and hangman’s noose of 16th century London. There are journeys through woods, forests, shorelines and rivers all leading to either triumph or horror or sometimes both. Even the winding back roads of County Galway roll and twist towards strange and terrible revelations.
The stories are peopled by villains, murderers, men in black, witches, priests, pagans, warriors, fisher folk, gamblers and schemers, murderers, organic cheese makers and love struck teenagers. Be warned however, the stories are not suitable for younger children.
