With a background in science, food and photography, John and Kerryann Fitzgerald have been running Atlantic Irish Seaweed discovery workshops, tastings and tours along the spectacular Kerry coastline since 2009.

Join the one hour introductory tour and find out why people as diverse as the ancient monks, Vikings and famous Irish statesman Daniel O'Connell all included seaweeds in their diets. Or find out even more about Ireland's magnificent sea vegetables on a three hour or five hour workshop.

Tips from locals

While you are in the area visit the ancient monastic outpost of Skellig Michael Island. Nearby Staigue Fort is a good example of a late stone age ring fort or you might like to explore Derrynane House, Historic National Park, the ancestral home of Irish statesman Daniel O Connell.
