Valentia Island, Co. Kerry
Drink in stunning seascapes for miles on this salt-aired 4.5km loop on County Kerry’s Valentia Island. With exceptional views of the Skelligs and coastal scenery that astounds, this trail brings you right to the edge of the roaring Atlantic

Taking 1.75 hours to complete, this loop up to Valentia Island’s beautiful Bray Head delivers mountain and coastal landscape and rewarding cliff-top panoramas.

Moderate in grade, from the Bray Head car park follow the stony roadway on a gentle 2km incline. At the top of this path you’ll find yourself perched on a cliff-top with awe-inspiring views before you and the majestic Atlantic below.

Pause to embrace vistas of the ancient Skelligs, Horse and Long Islands and the adjacent Iveragh Peninsula.

A breathtaking cliff-top path follows before a descent along a mountain ridge where the views are no less impressive. Enjoy glimpses of the Dingle Peninsula and more sweeping seascapes before following stone walls and fences inland towards the car park.

Enjoy a cup of tea in one of Valentia Island’s inviting cafés and bars or pop back to Portmagee for refreshment and gaze back at the island itself.
