Proudly managed by Adrienne Heslin, Tig Bhric is a rural pub operated by the same family since its establishment in the 1890’s. Visitors can meet Ireland’s first female micro brewer who founded West Kerry Brewery in her garden in 2008, County Kerry’s first micro brewery since the 1800’s.
Take a tour of the brewhouse with one of the brewers, see the hands on operation where everything from brewing to packaging takes place. Questions are encouraged and the team enjoy sharing their particular brewing process with visitors. This ale brewhouse uses its own well water, Irish barley, fresh yeast and botanicals to produce the seasonal beers in the Riasc range, named after the townland the brewery is located, and the nearby ogham stone and Christian burial site. Time is spent developing unique recipes, balancing properties of water and botanicals, which are synonymous to the location.
Enjoyment of these beers takes place in the rustic charm of Tig Bhric beside its large feature open fireplace. The bog wood mantle was carved by Adrienne from wood dug from the nearby beach Cúl Dorcha.
