Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) was established with a view to creating a true national authority for racing in Ireland, responsible for the overall administration, promotion and development of the industry. In addition to this, among the many and varied functions of HRI are the development of authorised racecourses, the control of the operation of authorised bookmakers and the representation of horse racing internationally, to name but a few. In replacing the Irish Horseracing Authority and incorporating certain administrative functions of the Turf Club (the Racing Regulatory Body), and with a Board representing key sectors of the industry, HRI came about from the culmination of a lengthy process of restructuring the legislative framework within which racing operates.
Their Mission Statement is “To develop and promote Ireland as a world centre of excellence for horse racing and breeding” is the driving force behind every action and decision made and they are determined to continue to provide an excellent level of service to their members and to horse enthusiasts everywhere.
