Foraging with Wild Food Ways is a rewarding experience for all ages. The location is a short drive from Kildare Town, and just under 1 hour from Dublin. During the workshop, a small group is led on a leisurely walk around farmland to learn how to identify the wild plants and trees growing there. Participants will hear expert advice about the edibility, collection methods and preservation techniques of the local flora, with emphasis on safety and sustainability. The folklore, traditional uses and modern herbal uses for each plant are discussed.
Upon arrival, guests are offered a selection of refreshments made with foraged items. The foraging walk will be followed by a three course lunch prepared from a combination of organic, home grown, wild and locally sourced ingredients. Each participant will be emailed a 60 page plant profile after the workshop, including all the plants discussed on the day. Children under 12 are welcome and free.
