The Pumphouse, attracts both a loyal local patronage and many visitors from Ireland and abroad, from all walks of life who enjoy the lively and welcoming atmosphere found here. Located on Parliament Street in Kilkenny City, opposite the Watergate Theatre, live music is a huge part of the life of this pub including the thirteen year running traditional music sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings during the summer season. Bar food is served Monday to Friday until 8pm, Saturdays until 6pm and sandwiches are served until 6pm on Sundays.
The split level ground floor has two bars. The top bar with its traditional layout has some fascinating artefacts on display, and the lower bar which has a more contemporary feel. There is a spacious pool table area in the top bar, and all major sporting events are screened on flat screen and widescreen television in both the lower and top bars. The pub has a digital music system with a frequently updated selection of 5000 songs. No boy bands allowed!
