Join basket maker Helena Golden for a hands on willow basketmaking workshop close to Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim.
In a relaxed three hour experience, participants explore the many traditional uses of willow. They learn willow weaving techniques as they create a small handmade basket to take home. Helena also introduces other uses of this remarkable plant. Participants discover how willow can be used to make natural charcoal for drawing while sipping soothing willow bark tea.
All tools and materials are provided. The workshop is suitable for beginners. Set in the Cedaroo in the peaceful woodland setting at Drumhierny, this is a great way to experience Irish craft, nature and heritage.
