Animal lovers of all ages will enjoy Wild Encounters Mini Zoo, which is a short drive from Newcastle West in County Limerick. The mini zoo provides much to see and do, including private interactive experiences. Their variety of domestic and exotic animals continues to grow, with 48 species and counting.

Wild Encounters Mini Zoo is a growing animal park with the core values of optimal animal welfare, education and fun. Close to other attractions such as Desmond Castle and the Limerick Greenway, the zoo is a great trip out as part of an exploration of the local area.

The zoo has something for everyone with its variety of mammals, birds, reptiles and insects. Meet the meerkats, snakes, donkeys and parrots, to name a few. The informative zookeepers spark enthusiasm for the natural world through talks, demonstrations and feeding.

In addition to the general admission entry, you can book private and interactive animal experiences, which allow you to get closer to some of the animals before the zoo opens to the public. The Mini Animal Keeper Experience lets participants feed and interact for two hours with some of the animals for up to two children, ages eight to 12 years of age, plus a guardian. The Reptile and Minibeast Encounter is for ages five and up. Private encounters are subject to availability.

The onsite play area helps the kids blow off steam while you relax and unwind with a coffee. The shop at the entrance has hot and cold drinks, light meal options, snacks and ice creams available to purchase. Outdoor covered seating areas are also available.
