After years of discussions, three lifelong pals Paul, Vino and Cillian set about recreating what the Irish public house means to a community. They embarked on a journey to create Mo Chara, a place that is rapidly becoming a beloved fixture in their hometown of Dundalk, County Louth.
Mo Chara, which means my friend in Irish, is still occasionally used around Dundalk, County Louth as a casual greeting. This became the perfect name for a pub started by old friends, to make loads of new ones.
From the beginning, the plan was to create a spot where folks could come together and celebrate the thinkers, doers and local legends of the town. Mo Chara hosts all kinds of events, from packed Sunday markets with local craft vendors to comedy nights and pop up kitchens run by some of the best chefs in Ireland. They serve their own stubby beer and on occasion, have secret gigs by well known Irish bands.
Whether it's coffee and sandwiches by day or pizza and pints by night, there's always something happening at Mo Chara's.
