Blackfield Watersports are the only school on Achill Island accredited by the Irish Surfing Association. They operate from a double decker bus on Keel Beach teaching surfing, kitesurfing and stand-up paddle boarding. They provide a safe, fun learning environment for students in which they can progress quickly without pressure. The ocean is their passion and it is their aim to pass the joy that they feel for watersports onto as many people as they can along the way.

Surfing

Experience the thrill of catching a wave on one of Ireland’s best learner beaches. With over 10 years teaching experience, the team of instructors will be there to help you every step of your surfing journey, from complete beginner to experienced surfer. In summertime they run a kids' only camp, aimed at 8 to 17 year olds (although younger children can attend if they are accompanied by a guardian). They also run private and small group sessions from March to October, which can be tailored to your needs.

Kitesurfing

Come try out one of the most addictive watersports in the world. The experienced instructors have taught all over the world, and will introduce you to the sport step by step to ensure you have a safe, enjoyable experience. They will give you all the skills required to become an independent kitesurfer, and can offer their advice on everything from buying gear to the best spots to travel to.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding

Fancy something a little more relaxed than surfing or kitesurfing. Join Blackfield Watersports for a paddle through some of the west coast’s most beautiful coastal scenery. The SUP trips will show you Achill Island like you have never seen it before. The trips can be tailored to all levels and abilities and their experienced guides will aim to ensure that you have the best time.
