A flagship event for Mayo's 2026 EU Cultural Programme, this concert brings together music by French composer Gabriel Fauré and his Irish contemporary Charles Villiers Stanford. Cór Mhaigh Eo and Louisburgh Voices, directed by Kathy Quinn, will perform Fauré's Requiem, with the ConTempo String Quartet, soloists Pauline Graham (soprano) and Owen Gilhooly-Miles (baritone), and organist Michael Quinn.
Professor Harry White, Emeritus Professor of Music at University College Dublin will present a pre-concert talk providing insights into the relationship between Irish and European classical traditions.
