Colaiste U.I.S.C.E. mixes adventure sports with learning Irish in an exciting and extremely successful way. Located near Belmullet, students are submerged in the Irish language for the duration of their Easter or summer course.
Students can sail, windsurf, surf, canoe, do archery, swim, kayak and climb. Taking Irish out of the classroom gives children a new perspective of the language. In this way, Irish itself is being developed by being associated with modern, exciting adventure sports.
Our 8:1 maximum pupil/instructor ratio results in more personal attention for students and, consequently, higher standards of Irish are achieved during the course.
The incentive for students to learn also exists because, not only do they return from the Gaeltacht speaking Irish naturally but, they also have achieved Level 1 competency and qualifications in various sports.
Students can also participate in football, basketball, volleyball, kites, raft building, barbeque, walks, treasure hunt, and U.I.S.C.E. Gladiators.
U.I.S.C.E. is accredited by the Irish Sailing, Windsurfing and Surfing associations.
