Dooega Beach, Achill Island is a sheltered sandy shoreline located on a small coastal inlet called Camport Bay and is just 8kms from Achill Sound. It is an ideal beach for summer sunbathing due to its south facing location. Dooega Beach, Achill Island is part pebble and part golden sands, making it an ideal beach for building sandcastles. It is bordered by cliffs on each side and has plenty of rock pools to explore as the tide goes out.
The beach and surrounding area is a habitat rich in birds, plants and insects and is a special area for protection and conservation. The northern part of the site consists of a low lying flat coastal grassland of machair.
It is a popular beach for surfing, walking, fishing and canoeing. There is parking available and a disabled access ramp. The beach does not usually have lifeguards on duty during the summer bathing season. There are no toilets on site.
