Mayo Horsedrawn Caravan Holidays
More from visitors like you
Mayo Horse-drawn Caravan Holidays provides holidays with a difference from their base in Belcarra, just 5 miles outside Castlebar in the centre on county Mayo. With your horse and caravan leave your worries behind.

Leave your cares and worries behind you. With your horse and covered wagon, explore the beautiful Irish countryside. Stay overnight at selected farm stops. Walk, cycle, fish, play golf and eat out. Drink in the local Irish pubs and meet new friends. Meet the real people of Ireland and have a holiday to remember!

Your four-berth caravan will have full self-catering facilities. You will travel for about 3 hours each morning and stay and small village and rural sites, returning to spend your last night at the base in Belcarra village. And, all the while, you will be making plenty of new friends as you and your horse wind your way through mayo.

The morning after your arrival you will receive instruction in harnessing, driving and carting for your horse. The instructor will accompany you, in the grounds and later on the open road, before letting you off on you own to explore the quiet roads of Mayo. Your horse is specially selected for his docile temperament and good road sense. You just gently guide him to your next stop, and we’ll always be within easy reach if you need us!

Your caravan provides self-catering for four people. It has a gas operated breakfast cooker (two rings and a grill), a sink, electric lights, and electric kettle, full set of crockery, cooking utensils. The living space converts into two double beds with duvets, sheets and pillow provided.

The overnight stops are specially selected. All stop have electric hook-ups, toilets, showers, and drink water. Pubs, shops and other activities are usually located close-by.

Transfers to and from airports can be arranged. Knock Airport (NOC) is just 40 minutes away. Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) provides a growing number of routes from the UK and Europe. Castlebar also has train and bus connections to Dublin.
