In 1766 Richard Tattersall founded the world's first bloodstock auction house. Today Tattersalls is an international firm offering 8,500 horses each year at 18 sales at Newmarket in Britain and at Fairyhouse in Ireland.
Today Tattersalls Ireland is world renowned for selling top class National Hunt Horses in which it continues to lead the field. There are six auctions that take place throughout the year in the Ratoath venue; the February National Hunt Sale, the select Derby National Hunt Sale in June, the August National Hunt Sale, the September Yearling Sale, the massive November National Hunt Sale followed by the November Breeders Flat Sale.
Situated in Ratoath, County Meath, only 11 miles North-West of Central Dublin, Tattersalls Ireland sits in between the major N2 and N3 roads and therefore is easily accessible by road, boat and air being 14 miles from Dublin International Airport, 16 miles from Dublin Ferry Port and 30 miles from Dun Laoghaire Ferry Port.
