When Liz's hand dyed yarns are added to the hand weaving mix, it is never certain what the finished piece will look like or how the yarns and colours will shimmer as they are woven together.

Time appears different in Swallow Studios. Hand weaving is a slow process and time is what goes into every unhurried handwoven piece that is made. The team paint with thread and the loom is the canvas. Essentially the scarves are slow fashion distinctive gifts made to be worn and enjoyed.

No matter what the team is working on they are always ready to welcome visitors and demonstrate how it all comes together. From the hand dyeing pots where the transformation happens to the ribbons of colour being woven on the hand and foot powered looms.

The commitment is to have visitors leaving Swallow Studios with a new appreciation of the time and skills involved in creating the 'wearable art inspired by art' in the heart of the drumlins of County Monaghan.
