Giltraps is an award winning pub in the picturesque village of Kinnitty, nestled in the foothills of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. A warm ambience, traditional interiors and open fires provide the ideal setting for the ‘perfect’ pint of Guinness.

Giltraps Pub in Kinnitty, County Offaly is a landmark building in the centre of the picturesque village at the foothills of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. Dating back to the seventeenth century when it was originally a hotel, Giltraps Pub is now a family run operation managed by the Clendennen family.

Giltraps has been awarded a number of accolades including Black & White Scotch Whisky Heritage Pub of the Year, James Joyce Pub of the Year Award and the highest recognition (5 stars) in Pub Spy Review by the Sunday World newspaper.

Whether you’re looking for an open fire after a day’s hiking or walking in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, attending a wedding at Kinnitty Castle Hotel, want to have the ‘craic’ or chat about GAA with the locals or you’re simply looking for the ‘perfect’ pint of Guinness, then Giltraps is one of the best pubs in the area.

Weddings at Kinnitty

Kinnitty Castle is located outside the village and has established itself as one of the most sought after wedding venues in the country. If you are attending a wedding ceremony in the village, Giltraps is the perfect pit-stop for a couple of drinks before a memorable night at the Great Hall of The O’Carrolls. Giltraps has the reputation for weddings, having featured on ‘HELLO’ Magazine and ‘Weddings by Franc’.

There have been many occasions when the bride and groom have joined the wedding party for a quick drink, whilst also taking advantage of our award winning pub for a photo opportunity. With advance notice, we also offer the bride and groom a complimentary bottle of bubbly on arrival whilst rolling out the red carpet.

There may be some people a little ‘delicate’ the day after the official celebrations, but for anyone that wants to keep the wedding party going, Giltraps are on hand to help with your second day session! For any wedding couple making a long weekend of it in the village, drop into the pub in advance to discuss music / entertainment and food options for your party.

Parties at Giltraps

Giltraps caters for parties of all types and celebrations, whether it be birthdays, christenings, family gatherings, engagements or something else. There is a wide variety of finger food selections to suit all tastes and all occasion, with live music also arranged for your event.

The veranda at Giltraps provides outdoor seating and a quiet oasis for smokers! Giltraps is the ideal venue for spring & summer BBQ's, with the mouth-watering scent of barbecued food mingling in the air and a roof overhead; it is the perfect solution to the Irish climate!

Events at Giltraps

Giltraps provide three large plasma screens showing all LIVE sporting events with surround sound commentary. Giltraps is also a WIFI Zone, offered free of charge to all customers.

Each August Bank Holiday Sunday, we have a Pig on a Spit with outdoor entertainment from early until late to accommodate all the family.
