Discover Tramore

The small seaside town of Tramore beckons in spring and summer—the ideal place to spend a wonderful weekend or holiday enjoying the best that South East Ireland has to offer. The panorama of Tramore Bay, broken by the peninsula, which carries the promenade and the strand, is truly magnificent. With a very regular bus service from Waterford City, the town is easily accessible to visitors. Stunning scenery and a coastal location makes the town a hub for adventures seekers—it’s now renowned as a fantastic Irish surfing location and boasts great kitesurfing and windsurfing. Surf centers, surf shops, surf schools and hire shops abound in the town, so it’s the perfect opportunity to give it a go. If you’d rather stay dry, try a lesson in Blokarting along the majestic beach front. The Tramore Coastguard Station makes for a great family outing; view one of its many exhibitions by local artists to get a flavour of Tramore’s culture. The Coastguard Station Arts Centre is dedicated to the development of art, culture and heritage for the community of Tramore and its environs and is definitely worth checking out. Horse-racing has an illustrious history in the town—the Tramore August Racing Festival has been providing entertainment for racing fans in south east Ireland for more than 200 years. Four days of sponsored races, fashion and socialising encourage many visitors to make their annual pilgrimage to enjoy the festival atmosphere around the town. Waterford and Tramore Racecourse on Gruan Hill is an 80-acre venue that now boasts upgraded facilities. The scenic landscape of Tramore attracts many walkers to its strand and cliffs: famous walks in the locality include the Doneraile Walk, Cliff Road Walk and the 5km Strand Walk, commonly known as 'down the back and up the front'. For golfers, the impressive 18 hole Tramore Golf Club on Newtown Hill is the perfect way to while away some hours. Good quality hotels, guesthouses, B&Bs, hostels and self-catering options exist for all kinds of holidaymakers planning a break in Ireland. Tramore is now a leading seaside resort in Ireland, still charming first time visitors and regulars alike.
