The Sathya Sai Donkey Sanctuary CLG is a charitable organisation whose aim is to provide refuge for sick, elderly, unwanted, abandoned or abused donkeys. It is situated 5km from Castlebaldwin, County Sligo.

The Sathya Sai Donkey Sanctuary CLG is set on very scenic land. This land is adjacent to the Carrowkeel megalithic site, 5km from Castlebaldwin, County Sligo in north west Ireland.

It was founded in 1991 for the purpose of rescuing Ireland’s lost donkeys, most of which are elderly, sick or injured. Once a valuable part of the national heritage these animals had spent their lives working on farms but were now often forgotten and neglected in a world geared for profit and production.

Visitors are always welcome on weekends from April to October, but contact in advance is requested to ensure there is someone there to meet visitors. Waterproof footwear is advisable most times of the year.

Donations can be made in cash or feedstuffs, including carrots and ginger biscuits, or alternatively, there is an adopt a donkey scheme.
