Shells Café in Strandhill, County Sligo, bustles with surfers and visitors exploring the seafront. With wonderful wines and an organic Prosecco, this is a real gem.

Shells Café take great pride in everything they produce, baking all their breads in house, getting as local as possible and using only the best produce. Their coffee is hand roasted in Ireland, Fair Trade and prepared by trained baristas. They even grow their own organic herbs for use in their dishes. Shells Café caters for wheat free diets, and bakes their own wheat free bread and yummy chocolate cake. There is free parking right outside the door and they are open 7 days a week.

Shells Café has been so inspired by the local landscape, surf, people and food that they have released The Surf Café Cookbook. The Surf Café Cookbook is about cooking, eating, surfing and making the most of life the Irish way. It’s a compilation of easy to make and tasty recipes, tips from local producers, a guide to the beautiful area of Strandhill and its vibrant culture. From foraging on the beach, to creating the perfect brunch or mixing homemade Baileys, it encourages the reader to make locally produced food that’s fresh, fun, unpretentious and tasty.
