The Sligo Dark Tales Tour will reveal the town's darker history and turbulent past, with stories of the undead, executions, gaol breaks, disease and other forbidding tales.
On the tour discover Sligo's connection to Bram Stoker, the Irish author best known for his 1897 Gothic novel Dracula. Hear how stories of the cholera epidemic inspired Stoker in his writing, the tragic history of Sligo Abbey that inspired W.B. Yeats, and grim tales of crime and punishment in the 19th century.
Public tours run daily throughout the year and private tours can also be booked for other times. Please book in advance. Sligo Dark Tales is run by Sligo native, tour guide and historian Melissa Ni Mhaolanfaidh.
