We design and manufacture a distinct collection of silver and gold jewellery, which is available through our shop in Sligo in the West of Ireland and from select outlets in Ireland, the UK and the US.

Leading contemporary Irish jewellery designer Martina Hamilton founded her shop The Cat and The Moon in 1989. The shop offers a luxurious selection of jewellery, fine art and handcrafts exclusively designed and made in Ireland.

Martina’s own multi-award winning jewellery collections are inspired by in equal measure by the panorama and minutiae Sligo’s rugged Atlantic coastline, Sligo - Sligeach is the Irish word for Shelly place. Martina also draws on Sligo’s deep cultural heritage which reaches back across six millennia of human history. Recent accolades include Best Jewellery Design for the Bean Ri (She King), at Showcase 2015, Ireland’s International annual craft fair exhibition. The collection was inspired by the candle flame forms of bronze age Irish spear heads.

In addition to her stunning contemporary collections Martina also creates unique pieces of jewellery in silver, gold and platinum, by commission, for weddings and special occasions.

Martina is also Director and Founder of Hamilton Gallery. Located on the first floor over the Castle Street shop Hamilton Gallery presents a year round programme of exhibitions by leading Irish Artists.

The Cat and The Moon and Martina Hamilton websites offer customers around the world an opportunity to purchase unique gifts, designed and hand-made in Ireland, for themselves or someone special, as if they were visiting the Sligo shop and goldsmiths studio. On request they will happily gift-wrap or include a gift card for that special occasion.
