Rosses Point is Sligo’s maritime village and it has a rich maritime culture. The festival supports the continuance of
this tradition with a programme of events based around Shanty singing and other water themed events. They
include concerts, singing sessions, street performances, workshops, boat races and a Family Pirate parade.
Since 2010 the Festival has established a good reputation and is a popular destination on the National and
International Shanty Circuit. This transfers into a good mix and diversity of history, knowledge and maritime
Stories while also promoting the Sligo area as a tourist destination.
