In it's 11th year, Tread Softly is a biennial festival running 3-31 August. They work to create opportunities for artists to work collaboratively, and together they create events inspired by Sligo's landscape, people and history.

It open's with Peter Martin’s photography exhibition Pause & Bettina Seitz’s film Monk at Hamilton Gallery.

What the Thunder Said, a collaboration between artists Julianna Holland, Joseph Hunt, Sarah Lundy & Padraic Meehan will show at the Factory.

Pilgrim, led by Leonora Neary & her team of 4 artists create a series of landscape art works at places of pilgrimage. Bare Hazel is a series of 4 podcasts created by Sean Golden & inspired by the Maugharow peninsula.

Other items: Wild Reading curated by Kid’s Own at 3 coastal locations; Sand Drawings, a community sand sculpture project on Streedagh beach led by Jackie McKenna, & Tread Softly Walks at various locations.

Most events are free - those with limited capacity incur a small fee.
