Each year, as late spring turns the slopes of the Knockmealdown Mountains into a sea of vivid purple and pink, walkers from across Ireland gather for the annual Rhododendron Walking Festival in south Tipperary.
The festival traditionally takes place over the June Bank Holiday weekend, timed to coincide with the peak flowering season. The mountainsides around the Vee are transformed into vibrant ribbons of colour, creating a striking backdrop for hikers and photographers alike.
Organised by the Rhododendron Walking Festival Committee in partnership with Siúl Eile and local walking groups, the event is designed to be inclusive and community-focused. Guided hikes cater for all levels of fitness.
