Situated within the old Courthouse Building in the heart of Lismore town, Lismore Heritage Centre was opened in 1992 to share insights into Lismore’s formidable history and heritage.

Journey to the Lismore Heritage Centre and experience Lismore Castle.

Your guide will bring you through the curtain where you will be immersed in the history of Lismore Castle using modern day technology. You will be given a tablet on which the history of the objects in the room will be visible by holding the device up to a trigger on the wall. Discover how priceless artefacts were secreted away and forgotten about for 200 years.

You will then be taken through the Cavendish blue door into the virtual reality room. Here there will be a choice to either put on a headset or watch the floor to ceiling images of the rooms inside Lismore Castle. Robert Boyle is the guide who will tell the story of those who came before and after him to live in the castle.

Why we like it
  • Discover the town's rich history and Celtic origin.
  • Hear about John F. Kennedy's connections to Lismore.
  • Enjoy a thrilling VR experience of Lismore Castle.
  • See the Book of Lismore, a 15th-century medieval manuscript.
