Ireland’s largest Christmas festival will return to Waterford for its 14th year with an even bigger and more festive programme. Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city, will once again be transformed into a magical Winterval wonderland - come join us!
Winterval 2026 will bring a mix of free and ticketed events including:
Opening Event: The festival will kicks off with a large Christmas Parade and the official switching on of the lights by Santa
Waterford Eye & Fairground: A giant Ferris wheel on the quayside alongside vintage carousels and a helter-skelter.
Winterval Illuminates: A signature 3D light projection show, often located at Cathedral Square.
Christmas Markets: Artisan stalls featuring local crafts and food, primarily centered in the Waterford Cultural Quarter.
Ice Skating: The "Waterford on Ice" rink is a staple feature located on the city's quayside.
Santa Experiences: Immersive meet-and-greets, historically held in unique venues like the Medieval Museum.
