Directing for Theatre at the National Opera House

A workshop on directing for theatre, led by leading Irish theatre director Conall Morrison. This practical workshop for theatre practitioners is part of a series of multi-disciplinary development workshops hosted by Four Rivers theatre company.

A director has to seamlessly combine the roles of dreamer and diviner with those of disciplinarian and driver of the process. The workshop will be an investigation of some of the key skills the successful director has to have: conceptual thinking for the setting and shaping of productions; text analysis for both contemporary and classic texts; rehearsal techniques to challenge and inspire a cast to give of their best.
