Gorey, Co. Wexford
Based on the Wicklow and Wexford border, Lorraine O’Dwyer is known in rural Ireland as a Seanacaí agus Cailleach or, to translate, a storyteller and wise woman.

A hereditary of ancient craft she is schooled in many home remedies and healing properties of the native plants and trees and is also a holder of folk memory with tales and myths from the 1800s right back over 5000 years.

Spend an afternoon with Lorraine in the outdoor location of your choice, one of the ancient woodlands or iconic gardens and learn how here in Ireland, a tree can be more than a tree.

Discover how you ease sore feet with a leaf poultice, which trees make the best shields and which one keeps the fairies at bay. Learn about the rural traditions that have their roots in Celtic blood sacrifices and how to write your name in the Celtic ogham alphabet.

Focusing on all things ancient and Irish, a picnic lunch is offered that showcases local, organic and simple farmhouse foods, cold meats, salads and a slice of cake.

As you tuck into your lunch the stories of the ancient tribes will unfold, are you a descendant of the Fír Bolg, the sons of mil, or perhaps one of the magical fairy race, Tuatha de Danú?

These are personal guided walks with a maximum group size eight. Children and dogs are welcome. Alternatively, join Lorraine in her rustic cabin for a private workshop on creating your own natural skincare from locally sourced and foraged ingredients. Bring home your own homemade soaps and beeswax wraps, infused with the scents of County Wexford, as souvenirs.
