Come and explore the roots of the people, homesteads, animals and artefacts of our Celtic ancestors of over 1,000 years ago which have touched and shaped how we live today.

Learn about the famous Craggaunowen Crannog, a fascinating lake dwelling found in Ireland during the Iron Age and early Christian periods. Explore the ringfort, a true reproduction of a farmer's house dating from the 4th or 5th century complete with a souterrain which is an underground chamber used as a place of refuge during an attack. Discover the ‘fulacht fia’, an ancient cooking site, or explore the charming Craggaunowen Castle, a 15th century tower house which overlooks over the site.

Visit the 'Brendan Boat', the hide boat in which Tim Severin sailed from Ireland to the United States in 1978, when he and four crew undertook an epic journey to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a leather boat, re-enacting the voyage of St Brendan.
