The Old Irish Farmhouse sits back from a quiet country lane within a timeless, rugged 14-acre farm with outbuildings, a river, natural springs, sheep, biodiverse areas supporting wide range of wildlife species and sustainable sections left to the wild for flora and fauna. It offers visitors ever changing views of Ballisodare Bay and Knocknarea to the east and Ladies Brae, a dramatic gap in the Ox Mountains -- also offering an iconic views of Benbulben -- rises immediately behind the farmhouse to the south.
Guests enter the kitchen with its original hearth, distinctive Liscannor fossil flagstone floor and table/tuck-under chairs. The ground floor also comprises the parlour and the sitting room (with a single bed), and toilets/sinks and stoves. The steep original staircase leads to the first floor with the master bedroom with double bed (with sink), twin room (with sink), small bedroom, and the bathroom with cast iron bath with over shower.
The front, orchard and gardens around the house offer seating to enjoy nature’s abundance and the splendid views. The ‘loop’ walk from Carrowcullen’s lane leads to a 12km section of the Sligo walking trails with stunning scenery. A short drive away are coastal experiences, beaches and activities: Dunmoran Strand (swimming). Aughris Head (swimming, walking, surfing and Beach Bar pub). Sligo town is 23 minutes away. Local shops offer for essentials and fuel.
