Inspired by the mystical landscape of the Burren and the rugged power of the Atlantic Coast, Kevin Lynch and Tina Robinson have been handcrafting soap in Kilfenora since 2010. Airmid Natural Handmade Skincare has since grown to be one of Ireland’s best regarded luxury soap producers.
The keyword for the Airmid range of soap is natural, with every ingredient sourced from 100% sustainable ingredients. The herbs and flowers used are home-grown at the Burren garden. Irish beeswax is used for the luxury lotion and balms scented only with pure essential oils.
The idea for soap came when the couple’s youngest son was born with eczema. At that stage the couple started looking for alternatives to commercial chemical products and couldn’t find anything that was suitable. So they began to make their own chamomile soap which is gentle enough even for babies.
Kevin is an organic horticulturist and they already had a garden full of medicinal herbs grown by organic methods, and so they were soon hooked. Handmade soap is wonderful for your skin because it contains the natural glycerine which occurs in the soap making process and leaves your skin silky smooth.
Airmid only make by the traditional cold process method with minimal heat applied, keeping all the goodness of the ingredients in the final product. All bars are cut by hand and are cured for at least 6 weeks before sale to ensure a hard, high quality luxury product.
The Airmid range has now grown to include handmade soaps, luxury lotion bars, body oils, solid shampoo bars, traditional shaving/grooming care, lip balms and gifts sets, all sustainably packaged.
Airmid are members of the Design & Craft Council of Ireland and Design Ireland.
